Construction at Pergola Commons moving ahead

GUELPH — Edward Ploughman doesn’t mind that his Sunset Grill is the only business currently operating at the southeast corner of Clair Road and Gordon Street right now.

He doesn’t even mind having to navigate around construction vehicles to get to his restaurant.

“I’m humble that we’re the first to open, but it won’t be long before other businesses join us,” said Ploughman, owner of the all-day breakfast restaurant that opened for business on Dec. 27.

“People are walking over. Police are coming in for breakfast. Cab drivers have figured out how to get in the parking lot. People who live around here are ready for this.”...more
